The Garden

Brad just finished a fence on the side of our yard and the girls have really been enjoying some much needed get-dirty time. Chloe loves to smell anything that resembles a flower and really loves to dig in the dirt. Bailey spends her time in the herbs picking leaves and making "salads".
While I do have the girls pose for some pictures I really enjoy taking candids of them. This is becoming increasingly difficult with Bailey. She is very aware of the camera and anytime it is pointed in her direction she poses-and if Chloe is near her she'll pose her too. It's pretty funny to see her reaction when she is aware that the attention is on her (as evidenced by the side glance in the"Are you getting this?" photo on slide show).
Pono has a very favorite Squeaky toy (which long ago lost it's squeak). Yesterday Chloe had scooped it before he got finished with making his garden rounds (sniff the pansies, check on the strawberries, pee on the wall, etc). Chloe was quite happy with this new toy-it was dirty and it got the dog's attention!-but Pono was beside himself. He approached Chloe hoping that she would surrender his favorite catch but to no avail. Finally he lay in the grass-right nearby-and waited for his opportunity. Alas the attention of the one-year-old diverted as Pono no longer seemed interested and Chloe dropped Squeaky. Pono seized the moment and snatched up his Squeaky and triumphantly trotted to the corner of the yard where he diligently slobbered on it for the rest of the afternoon. Chloe was quite upset until she found Monkey-one of Pono's discarded toys -and she happily drug that through the garden until it too lost her interest.

Oh boy a yard with grass! I can't wait to lay on the grass with Bailey and Chloe watching for pictures in the clouds or birds flying by.

Great job on the fence Brad. And Emily your roses are gorgeous. They must love that upcountry climate and soil.

Good boy Pono.
