May has been a very busy, fun month for us.

Bailey had her first May Day at Kamehameha.
She did a hula with her class "He Mele Aloha No Pauahi"
did a hula with the entire elementary school
and also did the waltz with 3rd and 2nd grade to
the Kamehameha Waltz.
(the video is in that order)

At Chloe's school this month was the St Joseph Feast.
Here are the kids singing Pearly Shells
You could see Chloe better standing at my height :)
(video by Bailey)

Chloe got to say "Hail Mary" on stage with one of her friends
here she is afterward quite proud of herself!

And what's a feast without carnival games?!

Today I went with Bailey and her class to
Noho'ana Farms in Waikapu.
It is owned and run by the family of one of her classmates.
The kids got to help in the Lo'i (taro patches)
weeding, planting, and harvesting kalo (taro).

Lots of muddy, muddy weeds!

Bailey weeding with her friend, Kalia.

Bailey, above, planting kalo

Brynn, below,  harvesting
After getting dirty they got to go down to the stream and rinse off and play.

Then it was back to work where they
learned about
niu (coconuts), a few of it's uses and how to get the milk out

ulu (breadfruit)
and got to ku'i 'ai kalo (pound taro)

They got to eat kalo pa'i 'ai and ulu pa'i 'ai
(steamed taro which they pound into a think paste
and steamed breadfruit which they also pound into a paste)
'Ono!!
It was an excellent experience and we are all very grateful to
Noho'ana Farms for sharing their Mana'o with us.

All this and a bushel of apples, too!
